Formed in Los Angeles, United States, the group comprises five members: Adam Levine (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), James Valentine (lead guitar, backing vocals), Jesse Carmichael (keyboards, rhythm guitar, backing vocals), Mickey Madden (bass guitar), and Matt Flynn (drums, percussion). Songfacts reports that their 2011 single, Moves Like Jagger, topped the American charts and sold over a million copies in just over 20 weeks in the UK, despite failing to top the chart there.

Maroon 5 has won several awards for its debut album Songs About Jane. Released in June 2002, the album enjoyed major chart success, going gold, platinum, and triple platinum in many countries around the world. In support of Songs About Jane, Maroon 5 toured extensively throughout 2003 – 2005, in which a live album was released, entitled Live – Friday the 13th. Original member Ryan Dusick left the band in September 2006, due to injuries sustained by the constant touring, and was replaced by Matt Flynn.

After a hiatus from the music scene, Maroon 5 released their second studio album, It Won’t Be Soon Before Long in May 2007, five years after Songs About Jane. The second set debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of nearly half a million. The album has since gone on to become platinum with 1.8 million albums sold in the United States alone and over 3.5 million world wide. The band performed throughout the summer and fall of 2007, including a North American tour with The Hives. They followed that with a world tour with New Found Glory. Beginning March 28, 2008, they toured with Counting Crows and Sara Bareilles.

“One More Night” is a song performed by American pop rock band Maroon 5. The song was released on June 19, 2012, as the second single from their fourth studio album Overexposed (2012). It was written by Adam Levine, Shellback, Max Martin and Savan Kotecha, while production was handled by Shellback and Martin. It is a pop song with a strong influence of reggae. Lyrically, it talks about not getting along with someone and hoping he only stays with her just “one more night”. It is built upon the idea of the quintessential push and pull between what the heart, mind and body want, which are usually opposing things.

The song received mostly favorable reviews from music critics. Most of them complimented the reggae influence on the track, Levine’s vocals and labeled it a “summer catchy song”. However, some critics perceived a lack of identity and criticized the song’s melody. The song debuted at number 42 on the Billboard Hot 100, while it debuted at number 27 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. It has peaked at number 1 on the Hot 100 and number 2 on the Canadian Hot 100 chart. The song has also been a success on the Australian Charts, reaching number 2 and topping the New Zealand Singles Chart and the South Korean Gaon International Chart.
